Page:4 Washi, Where you been Loca?
What was that? The season is getting me.
But enough with the dense philosophies of silly words, Lets catch up!
I’ve been so busy the last few weeks! From Artisanal Breads and reading books in Forks, Wa to Pies and book smart models! Lets get after it!
So to start I was fortunate enough to upgrade my camera! If you had ever asked me I’d say that the equipment I use to do work just needs to get the job done. But, as we fly higher and higher, we may have to crash through our glass ceilings and need to put a new one above us! this is that! The trusty a7III has given way to the marvelous a7IV! I don’t want to burden you with technical details, so I’ll just say that it has been incredible! Let see what we’ve done!
I had the pleasure of working with Spuntini! a bakery right here in Newport News! I got to shoot so many of there creative and unique sourdoughs. Geniuses behind Spuntini, Megan and Andy Ariano put so much thought and youthful wonder into everything they make! Their ingenuity led me to flex my own creativity in the composition of the shots. From the set dressing to the lighting, I strove to tell the story of this scrappy and innovative micro bakery that is growing to do great things!
Check out the lighting process below!
Next in our special catch up, I celebrated the turn of the season in only the most fitting way possible~
Twilight.
I thought it would be incredibly exciting to recreate the infamous moody lighting of the ‘08 classic film, so I set out with my lights, and good cracking!
Cue “Eyes on Fire” by Blue Foundation
Yes that is “A Court of Thorns and Roses.” No, I don’t own “Twilight” any more. Close enough right? Right?
Now back to the kitchen with Ollie’s Pies! Apparently people didn’t realize the TJ Terry, the chef behind Ollie’s, makes the crust as well as the delicious filling, So I was tasked to show just that!
The season also inspired another cozy library themed shoot!
I am so stinking lucky to have friends who indulge my impromptu requests for models! Aiyana understood the assignment. Honestly the photos say more than I ever could!
And we close up this long awaited update withl a hearty congratulations to Heath Scott of Fennario! This past Sunday Heath celebrated his 50th birthday in a way only he could, He took a week to ride his bike across Virginia! That’s right, from the Kentucky border all the way back home to Newport News, What’s more, he did it for Thrive Peninsula! He raised over $8k for the homeless prevention nonprofit. At the end of the trek we wished Heath a mighty “Happy Birthday.” Supported at every step by his equally magnificent wife, Heidi, Heath continues to be an inspiration!
And with that, we turn another page in this journey together! Thank you for reading! Please check out the magnificent people listed above!
And leave a comment! How many snacks do you think I ate while being around all that food?
