Page 3: Light, Camera— no this one’s about lights
Cheer's all! It’s been a wild couple of weeks! Hope you’ve all been well! Let’s start by explaining the above image. A new light arrived in the studio and I had a lot of oppurtunities to deploy the Amaran 150c. Above you will see that I was able to blast enough light through a makeshift gobo (Go-between) to really sell the idea of the easy morning sunrise greeting you with coffee from Fenarrio Coffee Roasters. (My personal favorite)!
It also permits me to make more creative lighting choices like this below:
Using it as a keylight lets me paint with the light do all sorts of fun things in the reflections. But How does it work people?
And the answer is… PHENOMENALLY WELL! I’m able to complete magic tricks! See get this, in the cinematographer’s world there’s an old adage; Good lighting is lighting that you can’t see— I think I achieved that well here. This shot looks like it’s just being lit by the sun, but that’s what motivated lighting is. there are other lights in the scene that serve other creative purposes. I feel like a magician~~
Another fun shoot that was possible by the 150c just serving as a fill light for the space allowing other lights to be more ‘characterful.’
This new light really makes me excited for all that I can possibly do now and even more excited to see what new adventure the new equipment accompanies me on!
I guess with this being the third blog post it’s become a tradition to have a bonus at the bottom. So here’s the first photo I took with the new light~ (Its bright enough to combat the massive amounts of sunlight shining into the west facing windows)
